Carcinogen Alphabet: “I” for Ionising Radiation
Ionising radiations occurs as either electromagnetic rays (such as X-rays and gamma rays) or particles (such as alpha and beta particles). This can be naturally occurring or produced artificially, and exposure can either be external, such as from X-ray sets or internal such as through inhalation of radioactive substances.

Exposure of internal or external radiation can be highly harmful and lead to several different types of cancer.
In support of the “No Time to Lose” Campaign the SEL Group will be running an “Alphabet of Carcinogens” campaign and each week we shall release details regarding a different well known carcinogen.
