Carcinogen Alphabet: “X” for X-Rays

X Rays are a type of Ionising Radiation and exposure can be from natural or industrial sources such as X-ray imaging equipment.

X radiation is classified by the IARC as carcinogenic to humans (Group 1).

Use of X Rays should be conducted in compliance with Ionising Radiation Regulations 2017 (IRR17), details of which can be found at the HSE link.

In support of the “No Time to Lose” Campaign the SEL Group will be running an “Alphabet of Carcinogens” campaign and each week we shall release details regarding a different well known carcinogen.
