UN Climate Change Conference COP24 held in Katowice Poland in December 2018.
One of the agreements has resulted in the Paris Rulebook which will provide guidance on climate action and will enter into force in 2020. The Rulebook will provide “flexibility” for individual countries experiencing exceptional circumstances.
The IPPC Report “Global Warming of 1.50C” (www.ippc.ch/sr15/) was widely commended for the scientific approach it provided in defining the issues associated with climate change and the options to reduce emissions. However, the report was not welcomed by the US, Russia, Kuwait or Saudi Arabia.
