1 Putting the plastic issue into context – Introducing the concept of wicked problems, global complexity issues and the conflicting requirements of stakeholders.
2 Introduction of issues of Single Use Plastics (group activity)
3 Creative Problem Solving – Explanation of the role of creative learning. Options of a visualisation activity or congruence “environmental values” assessment and the Icebreaker
4 Understanding the issues of plastic – key definitions, history, global figures, environmental impacts, developing solutions & positive impacts of plastics.
5 Types of plastics and material properties – Review of common material requirements of plastics
6 Design for Environment techniques applied to the use of plastic with case studies
7 Lifecycle Perspective applied to use of plastic with examples
8 Waste Minimisation applied to use of plastic with case studies
9 Summary – Review of icebreaker discussion
10 Plastic Thinking – Introduction to day 2 training and the Plastic Thinking Audit Programme
